Unreel Creative is a production/postproduction company based out of Winnipeg. They specialize in producing ad videos. As a client of Blabbly Ltd. They asked us to design a logo for them. The color theme was given and we were asked to design a minimalist logo. The logo on the right was designed as the main logo in red against a white background.
The primary colors of the logo were designed to be red and white. A darker color was added to the palette to serve as the background for the white version of the logo. For that, I selected a slate-grey which was dark enough to contrast with the white logo as well as serve as font color if need be.
The client also requested a brand book to accompany the logo design. It was designed based on an existing template that Blabbly used for a previous client.
The information pertaining to introduction to the brand, its revenue streams and brand foundations were collected through a questionnaire.
The colors were kept to a minimum at three and the typography was selected to be sans serif. Instead of using two different fonts, I decided to add a condensed form of the selected font so that it would match better with the selected primary and secondary fonts..
Blabbly asked me to create 10 different variations including a couple that I had to recreate (not shown here). The following 7 are the variations that I conceptualized.
This one is my favorite design simply because of the time I put in to arrive at the design and what I felt was the most creative of the lot.
The film reel 'E' was designed first with some trial and error to serve as the base for the logo. I wanted to make something that would be able to stand out as a logomark on its own. The typography was selected to pair perfectly with the "E"s.
One of Blabbly's requirements for a variation was a film reel running through the text. This was the logo that fulfilled that need.
Blabbly wanted a logo that had a surreal element in it. The reference they gave me was something like a "flying pig". I decided to go with the theme of a film camera and added a rabbit to it.
Why a rabbit? The first surreal story I ever read/heard was "Alice in Wonderland" and the White Rabbit at the start of the story was what came to mind when designing.
One of the logos was to be designed specifically with the E's as a monogram. I liked the idea of a frame with the reel running through it and designed this.
Blabbly asked if I could design a film camera with the initials U and C in it. I researched some logos with film cameras and designed this minimalist logo.
Similar to the previous logo, the requirement here was to see if I could design a film reel with the initials. There you go!
PS: I also have a version that has the initials side-by-side.
